Annual Sasquatch Festival Art Contest
The city of Harrisburg hosts the Annual Sasquatch Festival the first weekend of October every year. Artsco joined the celebration in offering a nature and Sasquatch themed art show and contest. The art is featured out at Southeastern Illinois College George T. Dennis Gallery.
We start accepting submissions in late August. Judging is the day before the festival. Closing reception happens at the end of October. Multiple category prizes.
2024 CONTEST DETAILS
We are accepting all art mediums. Photography, painting, sculpture, etc. We would like to see things that are themed around nature/The Shawnee National Forest. Bonus points if Squatch is in it or if it's of a Southern Illinois Landmark.
This year all of the art will be on display at the Harrisburg City Hall building in the City Council Room. This room will be open on the day of the Sasquatch Festival (October 5th) for viewing and awards will happen at 2pm. Then we will have a closing/pick up reception on October 26th.
We have prizes for 7 categories:
Kids (0-12) $75
Teen (13-18) $100
Photography - $200
Traditional Art $200
Squatch Art (art with Sasquatch in it) $200
Best of Show $350
Each winner will also receive a “squatchie” trophy
Mayors Choice - Receives a plaque
Art will be scored by the ARTSCO Board members and then category sponsors will choose the winner from the top 3 scorers in each category.

There is a limit of 3 submissions. There is a $5 submission fee for every category except kids & teen. The kids & teen categories are FREE!! $5 fee covers all 3 submissions. Please submit your payment by submitting a "Donation" on our website using this link:

SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS SEPTEMBER 6TH!!!
We will notify those who’s art is accepted in to the show by SEPTEMBER 11TH. Art will need to be delivered in person NO LATER THAN SEPTEMBER 15TH. We will coordinate art drop off's with each person.
The show will run October 1st through 26th.
